Starting Date:
Aug 2004
MIPS Project Challenge:
DSCS was developing a suite of conversion tools designed for use by a person who understands the content of the data without having the detailed knowledge of the mark-up language or conversion software. The company needed help to implement best practices in software development to acquire Capability Maturity Model (CMM) level 3 certification to increase its customer base.
Project Scope:
DataStream worked with researchers from UMD to implement a formalized software development process within the company, enabling them to develop software in a more consistent and maintainable fashion.

DataStream hired 16 additional employees, gained $2.5 million in revenue and attracted $2 million in grants thanks to the company’s MIPS project. In November, 2010, DSCS was acquired by The Dolan Company (NYSE:DM).
